Hanford considered for fuel recycling

YAKIMA (AP) — Eleven sites, including south-central Washington's Hanford nuclear reservation, have been selected as possible sites to reprocess spent nuclear fuel, the Department of Energy announced Wednesday.

The announcement is part of the Energy Department's Global Nuclear Energy Partnership, which the Bush administration has been touting as a means to control nuclear waste amid increasing reliance on nuclear power internationally.
