Oahu power plant to use renewables

HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaiian Electric Co. plans to rely exclusively on ethanol and other renewable fuels to run a proposed new power plant on West Oahu.

The company submitted a written statement about its intentions to the Public Utilities Commission on Monday as public hearings about the 110 megawatt power plant got under way.
