Cities have a role in keeping seniors walking and healthy

Dr. Lawrence Frank, a professor at the University of British Columbia, spoke yesterday at the first in a series of city forums on aging, saying city planners need to create walkable neighborhoods to keep residents — of all ages — healthy.
He said senior citizens are healthier if they can easily walk in a city. They have less chance of becoming obese and produce fewer vehicle emissions by staying out of cars.
