Football mom works to bring artificial turf to Alaska tundra

ANCHORAGE — At Barrow's high school football practices, long sleeves and tights are needed for more than simply keeping out the cold.

The extra layers help cut back on bloodied knees and elbows as players take hit after hit on a dirt and gravel field that's just a Hail Mary pass from the Arctic Ocean.
