Endangered rabbits breed in the wild

PULLMAN — Washington State University researchers have successfully reintroduced endangered pygmy rabbits to the Columbia Basin.

The rabbits were declared endangered in 2001 after the single remaining population in the Columbia Basin crashed for unknown reasons. WSU biologists rescued 16 rabbits, just before they disappeared in the wild.
