County eyes cuts in greenhouse gases during development

  • The county may eventually set limits on emissions and require developers to meet them or pay for mitigation.

    Beginning in September, King County says it will become the first local government in the nation to consider greenhouse gas pollution as a part of the State Environmental Policy Act.

    The change, which comes through a June 27 executive order by King County Executive Ron Sims, applies only to unincorporated areas of the county or on projects where the county is the lead.
