OLYMPIA A Washington program that teaches companies how to use environmentally friendly lean management practices won the Most Valuable Prevention Award from the National Pollution Prevention Roundtable.
The program is a collaboration between the Washington Department of Ecology and Washington Manufacturing Services. Three businesses in Monroe, Spokane and Yelm participated in the pilot project, and were taught how lean business and eco-improvements go hand in hand. One of the projects, Canyon Creek Cabinet Co. of Monroe, saved $1.1 million in labor and environmental costs.
