By KATIE ZEMTSEFF
Journal Staff Reporter

The U.S. Green Building Council's annual Greenbuild Conference in Chicago last week almost doubled in size from the 2006 conference, with attendance jumping from 13,500 then to 23,000 this year.

Coming up
The USGBC made a number of announcements at Greenbuild 2007. Here are some of the new initiatives:

• Launching LEED for Homes, pending a USGBC approval vote on Nov. 27.

• Launching a new Web site that is meant to be a resource on building green homes. It can be seen now at www.greenhomeguide.org/.

• Launching a new Web site designed to transform green building education through online access. It is at www.Greenbuild365.org.

• At Greenbuild 2008 in Boston, the organization will introduce a new version of LEED that will “normalize all LEED systems to a 100-point count.”
