Custom net zero energy houses are beginning to pop up around the region, but the trend hasn't caught on yet in multifamily projects. The city of Issaquah and a local developer are looking to change that by creating a regional model for net zero townhouses.
A net zero project does not use any more energy than it generates over a period of time. Noland Homes and the city of Issaquah are developing a 10-unit demonstration project that will generate as much energy as it uses over a year. Units will range from 500 to 1,750 square feet. David Vandervort Architects is the designer and Stantec is the energy consultant.
