State now requires climate change data in SEPA process

  • Projects that do not complete the climate information leave themselves open to lawsuits or delays.

    Starting today, projects going through the State Environmental Policy Act process must calculate their greenhouse gas emissions and other climate change impacts, according to Jay Manning, director of the Washington State Department of Ecology.

    A group of stakeholders will work over the next year to determine whether projects will be required to mitigate those impacts.
