Natural gas in the Rockies: The party is almost over
The first of a handful of major new pipelines originating in the Rocky Mountains is starting to siphon away the bounty.

New gas pipelines sit in a field near Illiopolis, Ill., for construction of the 1,678-mile Rockies Express pipeline from Meeker, Colo., to Clarington, Ohio. It’s the biggest pipeline built in the continental U.S. in the past quarter-century and will take the Rockies’ landlocked gas supply to the Midwest.
