Yesterday, Gov. Chris Gregoire recognized five Washington cities and one county with awards for creating livable communities and successfully implementing the Growth Management Act.
The Smart Communities Awards were established by Gregoire two years ago on the 15th anniversary of the GMA. These awards recognize communities that have done a good job in creating comprehensive plans or building projects that reflect the plan's goals.
