Shipping trash from Oahu to cost Hawaii $10M a year

HONOLULU (AP) — Honolulu would pay nearly $10 million per year to ship some of its trash to the mainland and extend the life of the state's largest dump.

Hawaiian Waste Systems' bid — the lowest of three companies competing for the contract — came in at $2.5 million higher than previous estimates.
