WSU opens wine research center

PROSSER — Washington State University can now lay claim to having the Northwest's largest noncommercial research winery.

The school's Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center in Prosser has completed work on the new facility, housed in two of the center's buildings. It holds about $200,000 worth of equipment, including 73 stainless-steel, temperature-controllable fermentation tanks.
