Suburban cities develop green building programs

The DUO Kirkland project by Yuval Sofer and YS Development is a two-house project that is shooting for four-star Built Green and Energy Star certification. It used the city of Kirkland’s expedited permitting option for green buildings.

Green building programs sound great but can be tough and expensive for suburban cities to start. Recently, representatives from King County cities said the best way to get a program going is to take your cues from another jurisdiction.
