COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — Government leaders and developers in northern Idaho say uncertainty caused by a federal review of wastewater discharged into the Spokane River and the region's wastewater treatment capacity is starting to influence growth.
The Environmental Protection Agency is reworking discharge standards for the river, which flows more than 100 miles from Lake Coeur d'Alene across northern Idaho and Eastern Washington. Cities and industry along the river discharge an estimated 66.42 million gallons of treated water daily, according to government estimates.
