Energy NW cancels Kalama coal plant

KALAMA, Cowlitz County (AP) — Energy Northwest is dropping plans to build a power plant at the Port of Kalama in southwest Washington.

Energy Northwest sent a letter to the state's Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council this week, terminating its permit application for the 680-megawatt plant, which would have converted coal and petroleum refining byproducts to gas for generating electricity.
