Neighbors, friends help build a straw bale addition in city

Architect Sage K. Saskill said other straw bale structures have been built in Seattle but this is the first to be permitted. The process, he said, was surprisingly easy.

A team has completed the first straw bale structure permitted by the city of Seattle. Architect Sage K. Saskill said building the 256-square-foot addition to a home in the Bryant neighborhood was “an urban barn-raising.”
