WENATCHEE, Chelan County (AP) — Alcoa and the Chelan County PUD have agreed on power supply improvements that would allow the Wenatchee Works smelter to start a third pot line by the end of 2012.
As part of Monday's interconnection agreement Alcoa will spend $20 million on two substations to make the power supply more reliable. It's a step toward the PUD's new 17-year contract with Alcoa, which begins in November of 2011.
