City may speed up waterfront redesign

Seattle Planning Director Marshall Foster said the city wants to speed up the process of redesigning the waterfront and, if all goes as planned, could issue an RFQ for design work this spring and hire a team in the fall.

Currently, the Central Waterfront Partnerships Committee is set to make recommendations on a process for waterfront development to Mayor Mike McGinn and the Seattle City Council in September. Under this scenario, redesign of the waterfront would likely begin in 2011.
