If green buildings go off grid who pays for infrastructure?

  • King County is considering whether projects that are hooked into the regional wastewater system but don't use it should still be charged like everyone else.

    The Bullitt Foundation wants to collect rainwater from the roof of a new building it is planning on Capitol Hill. Water would be treated and used for drinking and to flush toilets. Waste would be treated onsite.

    The Bullitt Foundation wants to build Seattle's greenest building, and one part of that involves collecting, treating and reusing all the water the occupants need.
