Pinehurst Safeway: prototype for new and greener groceries

Safeway officials said the green focus came in part by working with neighbors, who saw the store as a catalyst for new development in the area.

Safeway says its new store at 12318 15th N.E. in Pinehurst is the greenest in the Seattle Division. It was designed to meet LEED silver certification and be a prototype for future stores.
