Smart grid experts say AEC firms should start getting ready

    If experts are right, the way we use energy is about to be revolutionized, thanks to the smart grid. Savvy architecture, engineering and construction professionals should begin preparing now.

    In the last century, U.S. innovation centered on the automobile, the Internet and mobile phones. Mani Vadari, Battelle's vice president of electricity infrastructure, said the next great area of innovation will be the smart grid because it affects everything from renewable energy to communications and vehicles.
