Bill Gates wants an energy breakthrough — and quick

  • Gates said he is stunned that energy innovation doesn't get more bipartisan support nationally.

    Bill Gates, keynote speaker at yesterday's Climate Solutions breakfast, said major investments are needed to develop more energy-efficient technologies.

    Gates said putting more money into research and development will help create new energy sources that are economical and emit almost no carbon. He said the government in recent decades has talked about supporting energy innovation but done very little. To cut carbon use, he said we need to fund far-out, high-risk technologies and bringing them to market.
