City may reach for LEED gold buildings

The city of Seattle is revising its green standards for municipal buildings and will require that buildings owned or used by the city meet LEED gold certification.

In 2000, Seattle was the first city in the country to require city buildings over 5,000-square-feet meet LEED silver. Since then, hundreds of other jurisdictions have followed, with some now requiring LEED platinum.
