Seattle to try fewer garbage pickups

SEATTLE (AP) — The city of Seattle is moving forward with a plan to test every-other-week trash collection as a way to reduce the amount of waste it sends to landfills.

The City Council unanimously approved a six-month pilot project on Monday. The city will test the concept in 800 households in coming months.
