ISSAQUAH — Gov. Chris Gregoire's recently signed supplemental capital budget has $4 million to improve fish passage near the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery.
The project — a joint effort by the city of Issaquah and the state Department of Fish and Wildlife — will remove an aging dam on Issaquah Creek that prevents most salmon from continuing upstream to more than 10 miles of habitat. The dam is about a half-mile upstream from the state-owned hatchery.
