Tacoma crews track down source of waterway PCBs: road sealants

The sealants were used between asphalt and concrete curbs and gutters when the roads were reconstructed 38 years ago. PCBs were banned four years after the roads were built.

Tacoma's efforts to protect the Thea Foss Waterway have revealed polychlorinated biphenyls in globules of old roadway sealant.
