Kittitas County's ‘red zone' is worrying some land owners

  • A water-rights banking program begins Dec. 2, and people with undeveloped land in the ‘red zone' may not be able to get water.

    Jeremy Bach of Bach Drilling Co. of Ellensburg says he's been fielding multiple calls a day about the pending red zone in lower Kittitas County.

    “We're getting, maybe, two to four calls each work day, about that,” said Bach last week. “Sometimes more. They're trying to figure out the costs and what they should do with their land in the red zone. Should they try to build a house right now, or just wait?”
