SEATTLE -- Mayor Paul Schell is asking Seattle motorists to celebrate Car Smart Earth Day on Thursday by leaving their cars in the driveway.
The event will be celebrated in other cities around the world as part of Earth Day. Schell encouraged residents to consider alternative transportation choices.
"Our dependence on single-occupancy vehicles is a serious and growing problem for our air quality, economy and neighborhoods," said Schell. "Our regional economy can't afford the rising cost of traffic congestion, stress and pollution."
