HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaii has moved up the islands' transition to digital TV, making it the first state to go through the change. And it's all for the yapping Hawaiian petrel.
To protect the endangered volcano-dwelling bird, Hawaii will switch to digital TV on Jan. 15, more than a month ahead of the nationwide mandatory conversion Feb. 17.
