PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) — Facebook is putting a third data center on its property at Prineville, this one a more energy-efficient “cold storage” warehouse for photos, videos and posts that people don't need every day.
The social network company says 82 percent of its traffic is focused on just 8 percent of its photos, and the facility is a more efficient way to store photos that aren't in heavy rotation, The Oregonian reported.
