A. Just ask Howard Altschule, TV meteorologist in Albany, N.Y., who became fascinated with weather forensics, as told to Michael Rosenwald for Discover magazine. On Jan. 24, 2002, a double murder was committed in a Troy, N.Y., apartment and although police found the perpetrator's blood, years went by before they had a DNA match to a Michael Mosley. When questioned why his blood was in the apartment, Mosley answered, “I was snowboarding with my kid, fell on a rock and cut my hand. Then I went to the apartment, found the two dead bodies and got so nervous I ran away.”
