SEATTLE — Cascade Bicycle Club says more than 7,000 people are expected to sign up for the third edition of the Emerald City Ride on April 8. The club says this year's route offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bike on the SR 99 viaduct before it is demolished, as well as the Aurora Bridge and the Interstate 5 Express Lanes. They will all be closed to vehicle traffic.
Riders can choose the full 12-mile loop or a 3-mile out-and-back on the viaduct, and enjoy terrific views and car-free biking. Both routes will be fully supported.
The Emerald City Ride is presented by Kaiser Permanente as a fundraiser for bike education and advocacy, youth programs and other events organized by Cascade.
