EDWARDS, Ill. (AP) — Caterpillar is launching a line of diesel-electric hybrid bulldozers it says will improve fuel efficiency 30 percent while maintaining the power the company's customers expect.
The world's first diesel-electric hybrid bulldozer will come with a with a recommended list price of $600,000, about 20 percent higher than a comparable non-hybrid machine. Caterpillar executive David Nicoll said last week that the hybrid dozer will pay for itself in about two-and-a-half years.
