More soil testing for deep-bore tunnel

A new route for the proposed deep-bore tunnel that would replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct requires another round of test borings. Crews began drilling along Western Avenue in Pioneer Square last week.

Officials say shifting the proposed deep-bore tunnel away from Pioneer Square should reduce the impact on the historic district, but will soils along the proposed route hold up?
