Immersant Inc., an Internet consulting and development company, recently moved into its new West Coast corporate offices on the second floor of the Polson Building at 71 Columbia St.
|
JPC Architects designed the space to address Immersant's unique and casual corporate culture. The historic Pioneer Square building, with its exposed beams and wood columns, was combined with an aluminum storefront window system to create a contrast of architectures. The energetic space uses other industrial-type materials and bright colors. Cabling, lighting and duct work were left exposed for added effect.
To maximize density without creating a "sea" of cubicles, JPC centralized public spaces such as conferencing and employee breakout areas, while workstations were located along the perimeter glass to give employees exposure to the outside.
The project team included Barclay Dean Construction, general contractor; Carter Burgess, mechanical engineer; and Dinsdale, Carlson and Vail, electrical engineer.
