Cushing Terrell, the Seattle branch of national architecture and engineering firm, CTA Inc., promoted Chris Aageson to director of business development for CTA. Aageson was hired six years ago. He will continue to expand the team's retail and commercial presence in the Northwest. Cushing Terrell is working for Metropolitan Market, Whole Foods Markets, Uwajimaya and other retailers, corporations and developers.

Ware Malcomb promoted Jonathan Thomas to regional director of the Seattle office. Thomas helped launch the commercial architecture studio in Seattle, and integrated the architecture and interior design studios to expand services. His experience includes design, master planning, and industrial, office, medical office, high tech, retail and renovation projects. Ware Malcomb provides planning, architecture, interior design, branding and civil engineering.

Benjamin Parco joined Mithun as a principal in the San Francisco office. He will lead ground-up and adaptive reuse corporate offices, and developer-led projects in the Northwest, Bay Area and beyond. He has 28 years of experience and previously was a design director in Gensler's Oakland office, where he co-led Facebook Courtyard, SFO Terminal 3, 222 Second Street (LinkedIn) and 215 Moffett Park Drive (Google). Mithun provides architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, urban design and planning.

HNTB appointed James Thomson a senior vice president. Thomson is based in Bellevue and works with clients in the West. His positions at HNTB have included Northwest district leader. He has delivered planning, design, program and project management and construction management on infrastructure projects, and worked on programs to modernize multimodal transportation networks. He is a co-chair on joint ventures that include Sound Transit's East Link and Lynnwood Link, and the Gerald Desmond Bridge Replacement Project in Southern California. HNTB is an infrastructure firm.

Seattle-based Rolluda Architects hired Andrew McKernan as a project architect and Edward Rose as a senior project manager. McKernan has a master's in architecture from Tulane University, and has worked on federal, county and institutional projects and office and fitness facilities. He is working on a Sound Transit operations and maintenance facility. Rose has a bachelor's in architecture and a master's in urban planning from the University of Washington, and has worked on transit and transportation facilities, housing and mixed-use developments. He will be project manager for Sea-Tac Airport renovation and expansion projects.

In Seattle, Integrus Architecture promoted project architects John Baldauf and Jeff Luedeman, and project managers Sara Wilder and Kim Young to associate. In Spokane, the firm promoted project manager Dave Buescher, structural engineer Andrea Hougen and project architect and interior designer Kandis Larsen to associate. Integrus provides architectural, structural engineering, interior design and security design services.

In Kent, Hermanson Co. hired Geoff Vestman as business development manager for its service department. The Washington State University graduate will lead the Preventative Maintenance Agreement salesforce to develop the service base, set and track sales targets, develop sales strategies, and refine the sales process. Hermanson provides mechanical construction, design-build engineering and service/maintenance.

ALSC Architects

Irving

ALSC Architects of Spokane hired Mark Irving as a project architect. Irving is a graduate of the University of Idaho, and is working on the Cheney High School modernization and expansion. ALSC provides planning and design, with an office also in Coeur d'Alene.

Ascensus Specialties

Ascensus Specialties hired Mario Sandoval as vice president of supply chain and operations, and Gene Shields as chief information officer. The company is expanding production at its Elma manufacturing plant by more than 15 percent. The upgrades, expected to be operational by year end, will boost production of sodium borohydride, a reducing agent used in pharmaceutical processes. Ascensus is a Wind Point Partners portfolio company.

HomeStreet Bank

Cindy Shirley is the new crew chief for the Miss HomeStreet hydroplane team, sponsored by Seattle-based HomeStreet Bank. Shirley is the first woman to lead a championship-level team in the modern era of professional hydroplane racing. She has been with the team for 15 years, most recently as boat chief. When not racing, Shirley is director of the Office of Research at the University of Washington Bothell. Former crew chief Dan Hoover died earlier this year.

SCI Solutions

SCI Solutions, a provider of patient scheduling and referral software, acquired DatStat, a developer of patient engagement and digital health tools. Financial terms were not disclosed. The combined company is headquartered in Seattle.

Erado

Seattle-based Erado was bought by email security specialist Zix Corp. of Dallas. Erado provides archiving, supervision, eDiscovery and analytics for the financial sector.
