Phil Sorensen is a new Pierce County Superior Court judge, appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee to fill a seat vacated when Superior Court Judge Linda Lee was named to the Washington State Court of Appeals. Sorensen spent 24 years with the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney's office.
The Port of Everett named Catherine Soper to manage digital communications and support the public affairs department. Soper will work on social media, websites, publications and community outreach. Previously she supported the seaport and real estate divisions, including event venues.
Seattle-based firm of Footvote, which promotes Made in USA products, named Stewart MacLeod chief technology officer. MacLeod has served on the Footvote advisory board. He has more than 36 U.S. patents and played a role in products like SQL Server, Windows Server and Microsoft Office as director, architect and principal unit manager for 20 years at Microsoft.

Timothy Holzhauer and Colene Holzhauer joined Kidder Mathews' Seattle valuation advisory group. Timothy Holzhauer will be a vice president. He has worked in real estate valuation and consulting for 25 years, and has done valuation and appraisal work for the U.S. Department of the Interior and the Federal Aviation Administration. Colene Holzhauer will be an associate appraiser. She last worked at RP Herman and Associates, with experience in the industrial, land, governmental, retail, and residential sectors. Kidder Mathews' valuation advisory group has 30 appraisers who handle more than 1,300 appraisals and consulting assignments annually.
NAI Puget Sound Properties hired Chad Waldbaum as a vice president to focus on sales and leasing of office, industrial and retail properties. Waldbaum was last with Rosen-Harbottle Commercial Real Estate, and has completed more than 400 transactions in the last six years valued at more than $250 million. NAI Puget Sound is a locally owned affiliate of NAI Global, with offices in Seattle, Bellevue and Tacoma.
Atlanta-based ARA Real Estate Investment Services has hired Marty Leith as a managing broker in the Seattle office. Leith has been a multifamily broker for more than 14 years, and he has sold property worth more than $750 million. Leith was an associate partner at Hendricks-Berkadia Apartment Real Estate Advisors and a first vice president of Kidder Mathews' multifamily and investment sales division. Leith will work with Gail Neuburg, who is based in Portland. ARA said it is the largest private investment advisory firm in the country that focuses just on multifamily.
Colliers International hired Craig M. Robinson as president of U.S. operations. In the new position, Robinson will head day-to-day operations in the U.S. division. Robinson last worked at the national real estate services firm Cassidy Turley, where he was president of corporate services. He was responsible for corporate business development, account operations and strategic planning. He was on the executive committee and board of directors. Colliers has more than 13,500 employees in 482 offices in 62 countries.
Western Washington University has hired Darin Rasmussen as director of public safety and chief of police. He has been interim chief since last September and was assistant chief. He succeeds Randy Stegmeier, who left WWU to become manager of security for Pike Place Market Preservation and Development Authority in Seattle.
Fife City Clerk Carol Etgen, MMC, was named Clerk of the Year by the Washington Municipal Clerks Association. Fife City Manager Dave Zabell said she has processed more than 111 contracts, produced minutes and agenda packets for 31 council meetings, processed 197 agenda bills, and responded to more than 120 public records requests while also converting the City Clerk's office from paper to mostly electronic records.
Washington Health Care Association, a statewide nonprofit representing assisted living and skilled nursing facilities, named Robin Dale president and CEO. He has a background in long term care law, public policy, legislation, education and consultation, and has been the organization's general counsel for 10 years.
