Northshore Townhomes gets financing

Northshore Townhomes sold for $22 million.

Dennis Williams and Brian Esquivel of NorthMarq Capital's San Francisco office arranged $12.5 million in acquisition financing for Northshore Townhomes, an 86-unit apartment complex in Kenmore.

JB Matteson Inc. of San Mateo, California, bought the complex in September from Grosvenor Americas USA Inc. for $22.1 million.

It was originally developed as condos by Mastro Properties in 2009 and later converted to rental units.

Grosvenor bought the complex for $15.8 million in 2010 from a bank that seized the property from Mastro.

Lydia Bennett and Gary Hunter recently graduated from the Certified Commercial Investment Member Leadership Development Academy at the CCIM Institute. Bennett owns CRE West Coast, a consulting and instruction firm, and is a partner at Saratoga Commercial Real Estate. Hunter is a managing broker with Westlake Associates who specializes in court-ordered receiverships, debt restructuring and loan negotiations with banks and other lenders. CCIM Institute says there are 10,000 people worldwide with the CCIM designation.

Koehlers join JLL retail group

Jones Lang LaSalle hired retail brokers Anne Marie Koehler and Erika Koehler from CBRE in the retail division. The Koehlers will be vice presidents in the Seattle office, working with Mike Horner and Ryan Jones to expand the retail division in the Puget Sound region. The Koehlers have more than 25 years of experience representing landlords and tenants. JLL says it has more than 800 retail experts in the Americas and is the largest third-party retail property manager in the U.S., with more than 67 million square feet in 350 centers.

Celebrate Capitol Hill Arts District Saturday

Capitol Hill Arts District launches this weekend. Capitol Hill Housing will celebrate the new district at 11 a.m. Nov. 15 at Hugo House, 1634 11th Ave. The district is the first designated under the city's new Arts & Culture Districts program. Speakers at the event include Seattle City Councilmember Nick Licata, Office of Arts & Culture Director Randy Engstrom, Capitol Hill Housing Foundation Director Michael Seiwerath, and artist Amanda Manitach. The program is designed to preserve arts and cultural activities in neighborhoods like Capitol Hill that are undergoing rapid change.

REI

REI hired Ben Steele as its first chief creative officer. Steele was executive creative director at Hornall Anderson in Seattle. He will lead creative strategy across REI in physical and digital assets, product development, product assortment and employment.

Port of Everett

Beginning in December, Swire Shipping's West Coast North America Service will add a monthly, direct call linking Everett with Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, opening a new trade lane for the Port of Everett. Swire is based in Singapore.

Seattle College District

Teresita Batayola has been appointed to the Seattle College District Board of Trustees by Governor Jay Inslee. She is CEO of International Community Health Services in Seattle.

Jacobs Associates engineering firm promoted Andrew McGlenn to lead associate. McGlenn has 17 years of experience in structural engineering for aboveground and underground infrastructure. He is based in the Seattle office, where he is lead structural engineer on underground projects in the Northwest and abroad. He was project manager and engineer of record for the Evergreen Line Rapid Transit Tunnel and Port Mann Main Water Supply Tunnel in British Columbia.

Gabaldon was an engineering designer for nearly nine years with Blueline and will now provide training, design, and technical support to other designers and drafters. Mets holds a bachelor's in civil engineering from Arizona State University, and will focus on civil engineering and inspection services. Barnett holds a bachelor's in environmental resources engineering from the State University of New York, and will focus on civil engineering design. Blueline provides civil engineering and land development consulting services.

Friends of Youth added Chris Fernandez to the Board of Directors. Fernandez is a general manager of human resources for Microsoft. Friends of Youth delivers therapeutic services for youth, young adults and families.

King County

Patti Cole-Tindall, director of the King County Office of Labor Relations, will also supervise the county Office of Law Enforcement Oversight while a permanent director is sought. Cole-Tindall is an investigator and advisor to the county on labor planning, policy development and employment law.

Dave Anderson joined Seattle-based Specification Sales Inc. Anderson previously worked for 13 years at Mechanical Sales Inc. in Seattle and for 10 years at Familian Northwest. He is experienced in handling large commercial and industrial projects in the plumbing, piping and heating industries. Specification Sales is a 41-year-old manufacturer's representative.

Milgard

Kevin Vilhauer, engineering manager of testing and certification at Milgard in Tacoma, was elected to the National Fenestration Rating Council board of directors. Vilhauer joined Milgard in 2000 and has since obtained seven patents and was one of the inventors of the SmartTouch Lock. NFRC provides ratings and labeling that compare the performance of windows, doors and skylights.

RDH Building Sciences

Vancouver, B.C.-based RDH Building Sciences opened an office in Oakland and hired Joseph Pinon to run it. Pinon has many years of experience as a building enclosure consultant in the Bay Area. Colin Shane, a senior project consultant for RDH, relocated from Vancouver to help run the Oakland office. RDH also has offices in Seattle and Portland.

Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker was selected as a Tier 1 “Best Law Firm” by U.S. News Group and Best Lawyers, a peer-review publication in the legal profession. The firm has received the designation in every publication since the inaugural 2010 edition. OMRB has offices on the West Coast, including Seattle, and practices in construction, government contracts, business law and commercial litigation.

Vancouver, B.C.-based Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers is making several changes to its senior management team, including the addition of three regional business leaders: Randy Wall as president of Canada; Jeroen Rijk as senior vice president and managing director of Europe; and Kieran Holm as vice president and managing director of Asia Pacific. Ritchie also appointed Jim Barr as group president of emerging businesses, brand innovation and technology services; and is searching for a president of U.S. and Latin America, and a new chief human resources officer. CEO Ravi Saligram is directing the changes.
