Coast Equity pays $25.5M for BluWater

Everett-based Coast Equity Partners paid $25.5 million for BluWater, a 152-unit apartment complex at 11311 19th Ave. S.E. in Everett. The seller was Grosvenor Americas. Kidder Mathews represented Grosvenor in the deal. The complex has seven two- and three-story buildings and was constructed in 1991. Grosvenor bought it in 2007 and upgraded the clubhouse, gym and units. Coast Equity is actively buying apartments, manufactured housing parks, medical buildings, office buildings and retail valued between $5 million and $25 million. Grosvenor Americas has 2,400 apartments in the U.S. and Canada, mostly on the West Coast.

Tarragon hires marketing boss

Ashleigh Kilcup is the new director of marketing for Tarragon. Kilcup has more than eight years of experience in real estate, and last worked at Apex Facility Resources as director of strategy and sales. She also worked at CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield. Tarragon recently opened an apartment complex in South Lake Union, and is building another apartment complex on Capitol Hill and an industrial project in Sumner.

NAIOP tells ‘Tales from the Vault'

Some big players from local design and construction firms will share their stories in “Tales from the Vault,” the Washington chapter of NAIOP's December breakfast meeting, starting at 7:30 a.m. Dec. 17 at Sheraton Seattle Hotel. They will talk about some of the biggest projects over the last 40 years: how they were built, the risks, teamwork and technology. Pinnacle promotes Hill to VP

Pinnacle promoted Stewart Hill to vice president of client services. Hill will be in charge of new business opportunities within the company's western division and manage relationships with institutional clients. Hill will continue his work as partner relations director, where he provides support for an affordable housing portfolio of more than 100 properties with 19,000 units across the U.S. Hill has been with Pinnacle since 2008, first as a partner relations director for Cascade Affordable Housing. Pinnacle manages 135,000 housing units and 2 million square feet of commercial property.

Kenwood Inn and Spa

Michael Collins is the new general manager of Kenwood Inn and Spa in Sonoma Valley, California. He was manager of The Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, and has worked at hotels in California and Las Vegas. Kenwood Inn is part of the Seattle-based Columbia Hospitality chain. Columbia has more than 100 hospitality projects worldwide.

Dow Hotel Co.

The Dow Hotel Co. of Seattle named Mark J. Mathews general manager of the 353-room Hilton Hotel-Bellevue, which is undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation to upgrade guest rooms, meeting space and public areas. Mathews has worked in management at a number of hotels including Citizen Hotel in Sacramento, Hotel Murano in Tacoma, Sheraton Tacoma Hotel, Vintage Plaza in Portland and Bedford Hotel in San Francisco.

Bettcher has four years of experience in architectural acoustics, noise control, testing and analysis, and has worked for architecture firms. He is working on the Bainbridge Island Arts Network Visual Arts Facility. Gray's background includes audio measurements/analysis and architectural acoustics. She is working on schools for Pacific Charter School Development in Tacoma and Puyallup. Miyatake has over 13 years of experience in accounting, 10 in the AEC industry. She was with Stantec in Bellevue. Habib has more than six years of experience as a systems support specialist. Seidlitz has four years of engineering and technical experience. Sparling is an electrical, technology, audiovisual, acoustical and lighting design firm.

Chris Poulsen, an environmental remediation engineer in Hart Crowser's Portland office, has been promoted to principal and Lorne Arnold, a geotechnical engineer, has rejoined the Seattle office. Poulsen has spent much of his career leading the design of remediation projects in the Northwest. He recently consulted with Ecology on the Custom Plywood Mill cleanup. Arnold previously interned at Hart Crowser. He holds a master's in civil engineering from the University of Washington. He will support the Lincoln Square expansion in Bellevue. Hart Crowser is an environmental and engineering firm based in Seattle.

Sazan Group hired Robert Eastman as an associate principal, Eric Roberts as an electrical engineer and Nick Miller as a mechanical designer. Eastman leads the technology services division and has 28 years of experience. He has worked on health care, education, commercial office, mixed use, and other projects. Roberts holds an electrical engineering bachelor's from Seattle University. He has five years of experience on electrical engineering projects for biopharmaceutical firms. Miller holds a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Seattle University. Sazan provides mechanical, electrical, and data/telecomm engineering, commissioning and owner representation services, with offices in Seattle and Portland.

Friends of Youth

Friends of Youth President and CEO Terry Pottmeyer is leaving after five years with FOY, having completed a $7.5 million capital campaign for a youth shelter, transitional housing and supportive services. The interim CEO is Nancy Osborn Nicholas, who has over 30 years of experience in nonprofit leadership. The FOY board will search for a new CEO.

Puget Sound Sage will have a new executive director in 2015: Rebecca Saldana, who is now deputy director. She will replace David West, who is moving on to new projects after eight years as Sage's director. Saldana has focused on housing and transit issues as well as advocacy for South Seattle since 2012.

Rimon, P.C. has added tax and estate planning attorney Filmore Rose as a partner in the Seattle office. He joins Rimon from Lane Powell. Rimon has corporate, litigation, intellectual property, tax and private client attorneys in 14 offices worldwide.
