The Seattle office of Andersen Construction hired Dwayne Goddard as senior superintendent, Joe Turner as superintendent, and Matt Paonessa, Kelsey Gardner and Sean Holt as project engineers. Goddard has nearly 40 years of construction experience, working on projects such as the Husky Stadium renovation and Sound Transit's Capitol Hill Station. Turner previously owned a concrete company and has 11 years of experience. Paonessa is working in the Special Projects Division. He graduated from Washington State University's construction management program. Gardner also is a recent WSU construction management grad. Holt recently earned a bachelor's degree in construction management from Central Washington University.

ASI's Washington Concrete Division hired Karen Peck as project coordinator. Peck has 12 years of experience in project coordination, accounting and payroll.

Lopez

General contractor Schuchart hired Jordan Lopez and Kaegan Faltys-Burr as project managers in the Tenant Improvement Division, Tyler Wilcox as assistant project manager in the Industrial Division, and Eleanor Kertzer as accounts payable specialist. Lopez worked in construction in Texas and Illinois before coming to Seattle. She holds a bachelor's degree in construction technology engineering from Texas Tech University. Faltys-Burr has 10 years of construction industry experience. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a certificate in construction management from the University of Washington. Wilcox's past work includes multifamily and stormwater projects. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from WSU. Kertzer holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the UW.

University of Alaska Southeast

The University of Alaska Southeast has announced Priscilla Schulte as interim provost, while the search for a permanent provost is expected to begin in August. The Juneau Empire reportsthat Schulte, who is director of the university's Ketchikan campus, is expected to serve as interim provost until the beginning of summer 2016, when a permanent provost is to be named. Schulte holds a Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico. According to her UAS biography, some of her specializations include multicultural education, Alaska Native culture and sociocultural change.

Artist Trust

Artist Trust announced the Gar LaSalle Storyteller Award, unrestricted award of $10,000 that will go to a state literary artist engaged in storytelling through various disciplines. The discipline focus for 2015 will be fiction. Future awards will focus on storytelling through other artistic disciplines. Artist Trust is partnering with Gar LaSalle in the new award.

U.S. Bank

U.S. Bank named Mike Katz market president and head of commercial banking for the Puget Sound region, effective Aug. 1. Katz succeeds Chris Heman, who is moving out of the market. Katz has been with U.S. Bank for 13 years, most recently leading banking relationship managers in Denver. He also worked at CH2M Hill and Wells Fargo. U.S. Bank has 91 branches in this market.

Glen E. Duncan, Ph.D., former associate professor and graduate program coordinator for nutritional sciences at the University of Washington, has been named chair of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology at Washington State University Health Sciences Spokane.

Energi

Energi, a provider of risk management and insurance programs for the energy industry based in Peabody, Massachusetts, has opened its first Pacific Northwest regional office at Legacy Crown Pointe in Kirkland. Patricia K. Boudrot said this will give the firm access to more energy markets in the U.S. and Canada. Five Energi employees are moving to Kirkland and the company expects additional hiring. Energi has offices in New Jersey, Florida, Texas, Illinois, California, Connecticut and Toronto. Derek Davidson is regional vice president.
