Woodland Park Zoo named David Wu chief advancement officer. Wu worked at Woodland Park Zoo as vice president of external relations from 2004 to 2012. His new job will focus on communications, public affairs, marketing, membership and development. Wu was chief development officer at PATH, a global health nonprofit.
California Coast Yachts of Newport Beach has opened an office in Seattle on Lake Union. The inventory includes Ferretti Group's luxury motor yacht brands such as Riva, Pershing, Custom Line, Ferretti Yachts, Itama and Mochi Craft. The office is in Nautical Landing, and has a showroom, boat slips for vessels over 250 feet and other amenities. Roderick Roy heads sales in the Pacific NW.
In its Seattle headquarters, landscape architecture firm Gustafson Guthrie Nichol hired Stephanie Brucart and Therese Graf as designers, and Seth Gray as an associate, and promoted Rikerrious Geter to designer. Brucart holds a master of landscape architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley, where she also taught design and drawing. Graf has national and international experience. Gray has 13 years of experience and has collaborated on projects in the Midwest. Geter was a design intern and is a recent graduate of the University of Georgia College of Environment and Design.
In Seattle, SCJ Alliance hired Kim Tang as a designer in the transportation design group. Tang has over 30 years of experience. SCJ provides civil engineering, transportation planning and design, environmental and urban planning, landscape architecture and design, and public outreach.
In Kirkland, Freiheit & Ho Architects hired Carmen Sorensen as interior design manager, Kayla Verbitsky as an architectural designer and Dawn Paxton as accounting manager. Sorensen has over 20 years of experience in hotels, restaurants, casinos and office interiors. She was on the team for Thompson Seattle Hotel, and is doing corporate and retail projects. Freiheit & Ho is an architecture and interior design firm.
The Blueline Group hired Matt Featherstone as an engineering designer. Featherstone has over 25 years of CAD experience, and knows AutoCAD Civil 3D. He has experience with storm, water and sewer treatment, subdivisions, grading, surveying, structural, residential and commercial developments. Kirkland-based Blueline provides civil engineering services.
ZGF Architects named Toby Hasselgren as a partner. He has been with the firm for 21 years, and recently relocated from Portland to the Washington, D.C. office. He has worked on academic, corporate, health care and government projects, including Stanford University's Central Energy Facility. His clients have included Legacy Health and Johns Hopkins Hospital. ZGF is an architecture, planning and interior design firm.
Stantec hired Cyrus Gorman as a project manager and Shannon English as a senior electrical project manager in Lynnwood, and Nick Straka as a civil engineer in Anchorage. Gorman has over 12 years experience and will oversee environmental projects in Washington and the western U.S. He has worked on brownfields at Stantec. English has over 29 years of electrical engineering and management experience on industrial, government and municipal projects. He is working at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island on a maintenance hangar and support facilities project. Straka is in the aviation group. He has over 12 years of experience on airports, roadways and utilities, including in Alaska. At Stantec, he has worked on projects at Aniak Airport. Stantec provides engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental sciences, project management and project economics.
Farallon Consulting named Amy Essig Desai chief executive officer. Co-founders Peter Jewett and Clifford Schmitt will continue to provide technical expertise to clients, and will transition into a leadership structure supported by a board of directors. Essig Desai was hired in 2002. Her experience includes stakeholder and regulatory negotiation, and management of technically complex projects. She led strategic initiatives when Farallon doubled in size and added six offices in Oregon and California.
Nannette Westlake joined Edmonds-based Landau Associates as an office administrator. She has 15 years of experience in sales, marketing and operations. She will provide office administration, executive and human resources support, event planning, and management of project coordinators. The firm offers geotechnical and environmental engineering, environmental site management, permitting, and compliance services.
