In Seattle, COWI North America promoted Barbara Moffat to vice president, project management services, and Melissa Philpott to business development and marketing manager for national and design-build projects. Paul Guenther in that office acquired his Alaska civil and structural engineering license. Moffat has 33 years of experience and leads COWI's quality and project management systems in North America. She is managing Seattle's Lander Street Bridge. Philpott has 15 years of local, national and international business development experience. Guenther has 28 years of experience and is Northwest practice lead for the marine division. He is managing the Elliott Bay Seawall project. The global consulting firm provides structural engineering for bridges and retaining walls, marine structures and tunnels.

Jackson|Main Architecture promoted Matthew Laase and Timothy Black in Seattle, and Darren Orender in Kansas City to principal. Laase has 23 years of experience in design team management, consultant coordination and business development for projects, including retail, multifamily and modular. Black has 25 years of experience on projects, including hospitality, retail and medical. Orender helped launch the Kansas City satellite office. He does construction documentation, quality control review and construction coordination for projects, including data centers and housing. JMA provides architecture, master planning, interior design, space planning, building renovation, project feasibility, site evaluations, site utilization studies and comparative analysis reviews.

In Seattle, Berger Partnership promoted Andy Mitton and Kelly Rench to principal, Matt Martenson to associate, and Stephanie Woirol and Jason Fristensky to project manager. Anna O'Connell has joined as a project manager. Mitton works on projects of historical significance and ecological benefit. His work includes Snoqualmie Riverwalk Trail. Rench heads up marketing and is the first administration team member to become a principal. Martenson manages Berger's knowledge-sharing capabilities. He is working on the Pike Place Market expansion. Woirol creates graphics, plan drawings, master plans and reports, and landscape architecture. She is working on the 8th and Howell hotel in Seattle. Fristensky has a background in landscape design, digital software and parametric programs. He is working on Station House Lofts in Redmond. O'Connell has worked on multifamily, hospital and higher education projects. She is managing early design phases of the Capitol Hill transit-oriented development. Berger provides landscape architecture and urban design services.

In Portland, Parametrix hired Vicky Smith as a senior consultant for transit services company-wide. Smith has over 25 years of planning, design and construction management experience for light rail. She is working on TriMet's Powell bus garage renovation. Parametrix provides engineering, planning and environmental sciences.

DCI Engineers

Noh

In Seattle, DCI Engineers hired Daniel Noh and Hanna Saed as project engineers. Noh is working on gravity designs for reinforced concrete and timber structures, from office to residential. Saed has five years of engineering experience and is supporting residential projects for the structural engineering group. DCI is a civil and structural engineering firm.

Woodland Park Zoo

Woodland Park Zoo has a new vice president of education, Wei Ying Wong, PhD., who was with the Philadelphia Zoo as director of conservation impact. She also worked at The Ocean Project to help zoos, aquariums and nature centers develop tools and strategies for conservation.

City of Spokane

The former U.S. attorney for Eastern Washington, Mike Ormsby, has been appointed city attorney for Spokane. He was confirmed this week to head the city legal department.

Nativis

Nativis Inc., a clinical stage, bio-electronic life science company developing treatments for serious diseases, named Dr. Donna Morgan Murray chief regulatory officer. She was head of Global Quality & Regulatory Compliance at Bristol-Meyers Squibb, and president of ZymoGenetics.
