In Seattle, GGLO promoted Tiina Ritval, Don Vehige, Jennifer McDougall Watt and Blake Williams to senior associate, and Robert Wright, Justin Schwartzhoff, Nancy Linne, Bron Heintz, Sean Cahalin, Carissa Franks, Sam Beadel and Lauren King to associate. Ritval has worked in many project roles, from technical detailing to a lead design on the Elson S. Floyd Cultural Center in Pullman. Her other work includes Center Steps in Seattle. Vehige has led planning and urban design in the western U.S. and Canada. His work includes the Yesler Terrace Redevelopment Master Plan and Greenbridge redevelopment. McDougall Watt is an architect with over 20 years of experience on mixed-use and residential projects with a focus on affordable and workforce housing, senior living and housing for special needs populations. Her projects include Aegis West Seattle. Williams has worked on multifamily, high-rise, house, campus, master plan and mixed-use urban design, and collaborated with artists on custom installations. Wright has over two decades of experience on multifamily and mixed-use mid- and high-rise projects in the Northwest, including Sparc Apartments in Bellevue. Schwartzhoff has contributed to sustainable projects. He is a member of the AIA 2030 Roundtable, and works with the USGBC on the GreenBuild Special Working Group. Linne works on multifamily and mixed-use, with projects that include The Danforth on First Hill. Heintz has a master's in architecture from the University of New Mexico and has done whole building LCA/carbon capture research. Cahalin advocates for the use of parametric tools and computational design. His projects include the Elson S. Floyd Cultural Center. Franks has experience in mid-rise multifamily in South Lake Union and high-rise, mixed-use towers in Seattle. Beadel has experience on house, community college remodel and hospitality projects. She now works on multifamily, with projects that include The Carter on the Park in Redmond. King is a leader on the interior design team. She has worked on multifamily and hospitality projects, including The Junction in Bothell.

In Redmond, Otak hired Connor Reid and Emily Maggio as engineering designers in the transportation and infrastructure services group, and Alexandra Garner as a senior marketing coordinator. Reid has a bachelor's in civil engineering from Gonzaga University. The engineer-in-training is working on Seattle City Light's Georgetown Steam Plant Access Road. Maggio has a bachelor's in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin and is an engineer-in-training. She is working on National Park Service projects. Garner has 16 years of experience in marketing and business development for local A/E firms. She is responsible for proposals, promotional materials, press releases, trade shows and maintaining the CRM database. Otak is an engineering, architecture, urban design, planning and project management firm.

Tacoma Municipal Court

After more than 25 years on the bench, Judge Elizabeth E. “Betsy” Verhey announced that she will not seek re-election to Tacoma Municipal Court and retire at the end of the year. Verhey presides over Substance Abuse Court, the Mental Health Calendar and the developing Therapeutic Mental Health Court. In 1995, she helped develop Tacoma Community Service Work Crew, which allows people to work off fines.

Peter J. Conner on April 30 will become executive vice president and CFO of Banner Corp., the Walla Walla-based parent of Banner Bank and Islanders Bank. Conner is executive vice president at Banner Bank, which he joined in 2015 after working at AmericanWest Bank, FSI Group, and First Bank and Trust. He takes over for Lloyd W. Baker, who is retiring after 24 years at Banner.

Smead Capital Management

Jameson Greenfield joined Smead Capital Management as CFO. Greenfield previously supervised BlackRock's hedge fund and private credit platforms. He also has experience in accounting. Smead is a Seattle-based investment advisor.

City of Tacoma

Tacoma Mayor Victoria Woodards was appointed vice chair of the National League of Cities' 2018 Council on Youth, Education and Families. Woodards became mayor in January and was on Tacoma City Council for seven years. The NLC council fosters peer learning and networking for municipal leaders, and elevates the voices of young leaders.

Gersh Academy

Gersh Academy, a school for autistic children, hired Christine Domschot as executive director of its new location in Issaquah called Gersh Academy at Cougar Mountain. Domschot has 25 years of experience in private and public schools, and private practice. The Issaquah school is the first on the West Coast for Huntington, New York-based Gersh.

Title Boxing Club

Title Boxing Club wants to expand into the Seattle market with 18 clubs, and is looking for a regional franchise developer. The Overland Park, Kansas-based fitness studio offers boxing and kickboxing classes. It says it has more than 170 clubs across the country and another 250 in development.

For its Industrial Division, Schuchart hired Mike McGlothlin as senior project manager, and Shane Walker and Joey Reyes as project engineers. In the Ground Up Division, the company hired Spencer Tucker as project manager and PJ Nakhjiri as project engineer. Also, Chas Bross is a new superintendent in the Tenant Improvement Division, and Annika Gaffney joined the human resources team to provide recruiting and employee support. McGlothlin and Walker are working on projects for Boeing and the Port of Seattle. Reyes and Bross are working on Boeing jobs. Tucker and Nakhjiri are working on the Gerrish Hall Apartments on Capitol Hill.

GenCap Construction

Warnaca

Kirkland-based GenCap Construction named Rob Warnaca president. Warnaca has been in the construction industry for 25 years, mostly recently as director at M.A. Mortenson Co. in Seattle. He also is an adjunct professor at the University of Washington. GenCap is a commercial general contracting and construction management firm.

Bryan Schmick joined The Walsh Group as estimator. Schmick has 12 years of experience in estimating, business development, project management and operations. He previously worked at Associated Materials (Alside Supply) and J2 Building Consultants.





PCL Construction Services

Wiehe

Dana Wiehe, project manager for PCL Construction Services, was named one of the Northwest's Top Young Professionals of 2018 by Engineering News-Record. Wiehe joined PCL in 2007 in Seattle and spent the last several years working at PCL offices in Hawaii and California before returning to Seattle. She is overseeing PCL's Seattle office relocation project.
