Corps of Engineers

DiCiro

Col. Torrey A. DiCiro is the new commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Northwestern Division, which has operations in Portland, Seattle and Walla Walla, as well as Kansas City and Omaha. DiCiro was deputy commander of the Northwestern Division since July 2015. He succeeds Maj. Gen. Scott A. Spellmon, who served as commander since July 2015.

Seattle Children's Theatre

Malgesini

Seattle Children's Theatre appointed Kevin Malgesini managing director. Malgesini replaces Karen Sharp, who recently resigned after 19 years with the theater. Malgesini spent five years at Town Hall Seattle, most recently as advancement director, and was board president of Intiman Theatre.

NASBA

Tish

Seattle CPA Laurie J. Tish was appointed vice board chair of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. Tish has been involved with NASBA since 2003 and is on the awards committee. She is a partner with Moss Adams and serves as the national practice leader for government services.

Kirkland Urban apartments: Uptown

Ryan Companies and Talon Private picked Uptown as the name for the first 185 apartments in the 11-acre Kirkland Urban project, which will replace Kirkland Park Place mall. Uptown is set to open in the first quarter of next year, followed by another 175 units in 2021. The 1.2-million square-foot Kirkland Urban will also include a 50,000-square-foot QFC, more retail, and 650,000 square feet of offices in three buildings. CBRE is leasing that space, with Wave Broadband and Tableau among the tenants signed. The north building, on Central Way, is set to open late this year, with the other two to open in 2019 and 2021. Weber Thompson designed the Uptown. CollinsWoerman created the master plan and designed the retail and office. Ryan is acting as general contractor.

125 pre-sales at Bosa's One88

Bosa Development said 125 condos have pre-sold at One88, its 21-story tower under construction at 188 Bellevue Way N.E. One88 will have 143 units when completed in 2020. Bosa said that 70 percent of the buyers are local. Units range from one- to three-bedrooms, and about 750 to 3,000 square feet. Prices start in the low $800,000s and top $5 million for the penthouse. One88 will have 292 parking stalls, plus about 12,000 square feet of retail. Bosa is the general contractor, and the architect is Amanat Architect, also based in Vancouver, B.C. Tarragon hires Larry Lambert

Tarragon hired Larry Lambert as construction manager on its multifamily team. He's a 30-year industry veteran who makes the move from Rush Hill Construction.

First Western starts new venture

Broker First Western Properties is partnering with property manager Metro Property Services in a new venture: First Western Properties-Management. First Western's Brennan McClurg said the goal is to have the brokerage and management teams work together to serve existing clients. His company was founded in 1979, and now has offices in Tacoma, Kirkland and Portland. Metro was established in 2009.

Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker

David Yang joined Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker as a partner. Yang's practice focuses on government contracts and bid protests. He was a partner at an AmLaw 100 firm in Washington, D.C., and a law clerk for Judge Mary Ellen Coster Williams at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. OMR has offices in Seattle, Anchorage and Oakland.

EchoNous

Dr. Michael Blaivas has become chief medical officer at EchoNous, a Seattle developer of intelligent medical tools. Blaivas is focusing on a tool for heart and lung assessments, as well as a tool that improves first-time peripheral IV placement. He is affiliate professor of medicine at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.

Pivotal Commware

Glenn Lurie joined the board of Pivotal Commware, a Kirkland-based inventor of holographic beam forming, which improves 4G and 5G cellular networks. Lurie is CEO of Synchronoss, a provider of cloud, messaging and digital transformation products. He has nearly 30 years of experience in the telecommunications and wireless industries.
