City may condemn Pike Street building

In what could be its first property condemnation in decades, the Seattle Housing Authority is closing in on a dilapidated building at the northwest corner of Pike Street and Second Avenue.

The city says this building at the corner of Pike Street and Second Avenue is a haven for drug addicts and negatively impacts downtown's environment.

Part of the problem is the building, owned by Richard Nimmer, is unkempt and mostly vacant above the ground level, making it an attraction for drug addicts and the homeless.
