Hearing that a car dealership might move typically doesn't rev our engines much, but one such rumor in Seattle has us and probably a lot of developers taking note. It's not so much where BMW Seattle might go (the edge of the International District), but where it might leave (Capitol Hill) that is most interesting.
BMW's current home occupies more than half the block bounded by East Pike, East Pine, Boylston and Harvard. The property BMW occupies is contiguous, but it's not a tidy rectangle or square. Public records indicate the parcels make up about 54,000 of the block's 90,000 square feet, more than an acre in the red-hot Pike-Pine corridor.
