Smart growth fans say state needs to catch up to others

Aaron Ostrom, executive director of Futurewise, said Seattle and King County are at the forefront of responsible development but to get other jurisdictions on board, the state will need to amend its Growth Management Act in favor of urban development.

“King County and Seattle are as good as it gets in the whole country in responsible development and land use,” Ostrom said, “(but) it is not at all possible to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions if we continue to build low density crap.”
