Since June of 2005, many states have looked at restricting public agencies' eminent domain authority following a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that said a city could condemn property for economic development even if it was not in a blighted area.
The case, Kelo vs. City of New London, was viewed as a call to arms for property rights advocates.
